Passover
Represents the sacrifice of Jesus Christ for our past sins.
We find in 1st John 3:4 that sin is the transgression of God’s law.
We find in Rom. 7:12 that the law is holy, and the commandment ,holy and just
And good. We also see in Rom. 7:14 that the law is spiritual.God tells us in Ezekiel
18: 4 that all souls are his, and the soul that sinneth it shall die. We find in Rom. 3:23
All of us have sinned and come short of the glory of God. The death of Jesus Christ
Reconciles us to God Rom 5:10. But we are saved by His life, His resurrection.
The Days of Unleavened Bread
After we have been forgiven for our past sins, and
Accepted the sacrifice of Jesus Christ we must come out of sin. The Apostle Paul
Tells us in 1st Cor. 5:7 To purge out the old leaven, that we may be a new, lump, as
Ye are unleavened. Why? For even Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us.
When we partook of the Passover and the emblems of the bread and wine, and the foot washing we were no longer under the penalty of death for those sins, because Jesus Christ
Paid the debt for us. However we must strive to not sin anymore, and show God, we appreciate what Jesus Christ did for us. Leaven represents sin . The Apostle Paul told the
Corinthian church in 1st Cor :5:2 that they were puffed up because of the sin they were
Allowing to exist in the church. Leaven puffs up. We are told to keep the Feast of Unleavened Bread in 1st Cor. 5:8 .Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven
Of malice and wickedness; or sin, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
The days of unleavened bread picture our coming out of sin.
Pentecost
We strive to come out of sin, but we find we can’t do it alone, we must have help
Pentecost represents the coming of the holy spirit to help us to come out of sin .
Jesus said in John 14:16 that he would pray that the Father would give another comforter
That would abide with us forever. In verse 17 He tells us that comforter is the Spirit of
Truth, whom the world cannot receive yet! (They will one day, but today God is not trying
To save the whole world, but there will come a day when your bible says that He will pour
Out His spirit on all flesh Joel 2: 28) He tells us in John 14:26 what that comforter is.
But the comforter which is the holy spirit , whom the Father will send in is name,
We find in John 7: 39 that at the time Jesus was here on earth, the holy spirit had not been
Given because Jesus had not yet been glorified.
The Feast of Pentecost is also called The Feast of Firstfruits picturing the first to be called
In God’s great plan of salvation.
